Brooks is the Founding Attorney at Light Legal PLLC. He is a corporate and commercial-contracts attorney who uses his experience as an entrepreneur to help other entrepreneurs and business leaders solve problems and succeed. He is experienced in corporate matters, commercial and tech transactions, intellectual property protection, web issues like privacy policies and terms of service, financings, M&A, employment, real estate, and other common legal issues facing growing companies. He is particularly skilled at outside-general-counsel functions and quarterbacking across various legal needs. Before founding Light Legal PLLC, Brooks was a Senior Attorney at TangoLaw PLLC and Associate at Foster Garvey PC, providing corporate, commercial contract, and technology legal services to founders and growth companies. He received his B.A. from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service and a JD and MBA from the University of Washington, including a Certificate of Entrepreneurship from the Foster School of Business. Brooks was a founder for five years after college, creating an online encyclopedia of debates and arguments called Debatepedia. He uses that experience to advise clients with a founder’s mindset, the way he wanted to be advised. He was also a communications professional with stints at the World Bank Group, Jay Inslee 2012 gubernatorial campaign, and at Nyhus Communications in Seattle, experiences he draws from to communicate effectively in his legal practice. Brooks is a member of the Washington State Bar.
